Tale of a Lighthouse

You alight the way in darkness.
Piercing the night with light.
Reaching across the miles.
Seeking those who are lost.

Contending with the light above.
Where they twinkle in the sky.
You find a way to shroud them.
As you wink repeatedly.

Waves crash upon your feet.
Without so much as moving you.
You are firm in your regard.
You will outlast the storms.

You've seen the dawn of many.
Sunrises as they alight the day.
You've seen the dusk of many.
Sunsets that bring about the night.

Having witnessed the calm serenity.
Of mirrored sleek waters.
As boats slice through such.
Divinity and tranquility.

You've observed tempest in her rage.
Have heard the cracks of her laughter.
As she shouts upon the deep.
Stirring up and sending it crashing.

All who see you are not lost.
Yet not all find their way.
When fighting against tempest.
Meeting their watery grave to depths.

Sorrow and joy are your companions.
They hold hands in turmoil.
Holding their peace in grief.
Lighting with every relief.

Having beheld so much.
Over the many years you've been.
What stories you would share.
If you but had a voice.
