Take Flight

Remind me of the path.
The one less traveled.
Lead me on a merry way.
Take me upon an endless flight.

There is this way and that.
Pay no mind to which.
Toss a coin; leave it to chance.
Our destination is still unforeseen.

Nothing to constrain us.
No worries to bother us.
No worldly care to weigh us down.
Only freedom to be discovered.

Such weightlessness is freeing.
Where this journey goes, none know.
No decisions are predicted.
We'll never be sought nor found.

Watch as my wings spread.
Prepared for flight am I.
The endless migration to come.
Where my feet may land; who knows.

Finding salvation through liberty.
One can finally take a breath.
No walls to cage this bird.
Who's colors have yet to be seen.

When will this journey end?
The question has not been posed.
Yet when it is.
It shall not be answered.

My Peaceful Snow Globe

The flakes dance on their journey.
Floating to earth in cascades.
Settling neatly upon each other.
Forming intrinsic, tidy layers.

The ambience is peaceful.
Quietly birds sing their tune.
Seeking out their daily meal.
A world encompassed in white.

Branches creak quietly.
As the wind softly breezes through.
Gently hushing the birds.
Who take flight again.

A doe stops in her tracks.
Her fawn staying close for warmth.
The soft crunching of snow.
As they seek fodder.

This winter wonderland,
Brings a quiet peace.
Shrouding the landscape.
Covering it in a cold blanket.

The sun reflects off the specks.
The snow glitters and shifts.
Resembling a million diamonds.
Priceless is this scenic view.

Trap me in this snow globe.
I never want to leave.
Let me have peace forever.
Found only in such; Winter.

Welcome Autumn

I see it gleam on the tips of the grass.
The dew is alight with rays shining through.
Glinting and glowing like fireflies at dawn.
Setting a picturesque scene at first light.

The brisk air settles in my lungs.
Taking a deep breath of autumn.
The smell of crispness settles all around me.
Bringing to life my senses, filling every pore.

The trees have changed their colors for me.
Shifting in hues of auburn, crimson and gold.
Their autumn garments swaying in the soft breeze.
Gently waving as if to say, "Good 'Morning".

The larks sing their morning tune.
Waking with the sun to flutter about.
Swaying through the air whistling.
Dancing to the tune of autumn.

The smell of coffee greets me.
Nestled in a blanket sipping slowly.
Taking in the scenery all around.
Soaking in the sunlight filtered through leaves.

No one is there to break the trance.
No voices to disillusion the moment.
Only stillness in the dawn of a day.
Only peace in this perfect juncture.

I have found bliss in such heaven.
There is no comparison to it.
Nothing can touch my favorite time.
The time many call "Autumn".

One Day at a Time

I woke up again today.
Found out I was still here.
Light filtered through the window.
Letting me feel it's warmth.

I breathed again today.
Unsure what it meant to me.
I felt the weight press.
Slide into place on my shoulders.

I made it through another night.
Not knowing why.
Why I'm here to face it all.
Facing it alone yet again.

I made it through another day.
Putting one foot out.
To be followed by the other.
Traveling this worn path.

I was invisible again today.
Not a single soul noticed.
The broken shards inside.
Lost in a drawn out trance.

I got lost again today.
Lost in my own mind.
Memories playing like re-runs.
Flooding memories down my cheeks.

I survived another day.
My head finding the pillow.
No comfort to be found.
Sleep only found through tears.

I slept again today.
Wondering when it stops.
Does it ever stop?
As the black takes over.

I woke up again today.
Found out I was still here.
Shadows dancing on the floor.
Lending way for dreariness.

Will I make it through today?
Unsure how much more.
How much can one take.
Before sanity is lost.

I made up my mind today.
To make a change.
I will find the will.
To be all they would want.

I smiled today.
As my neighbor drove by.
They barely noticed.
But I felt it alight.

I said, "Hi" today.
As a stranger passed.
They smiled back at me.
I was invisible no more.

I felt my grief lessen today.
As I made the choice.
To not live in memories.
But to make my own.

I moved on today.
Mending this broken heart.
It will take time, but;
I lived again today.
I'll do so again tomorrow.

Tale of a Lighthouse

You alight the way in darkness.
Piercing the night with light.
Reaching across the miles.
Seeking those who are lost.

Contending with the light above.
Where they twinkle in the sky.
You find a way to shroud them.
As you wink repeatedly.

Waves crash upon your feet.
Without so much as moving you.
You are firm in your regard.
You will outlast the storms.

You've seen the dawn of many.
Sunrises as they alight the day.
You've seen the dusk of many.
Sunsets that bring about the night.

Having witnessed the calm serenity.
Of mirrored sleek waters.
As boats slice through such.
Divinity and tranquility.

You've observed tempest in her rage.
Have heard the cracks of her laughter.
As she shouts upon the deep.
Stirring up and sending it crashing.

All who see you are not lost.
Yet not all find their way.
When fighting against tempest.
Meeting their watery grave to depths.

Sorrow and joy are your companions.
They hold hands in turmoil.
Holding their peace in grief.
Lighting with every relief.

Having beheld so much.
Over the many years you've been.
What stories you would share.
If you but had a voice.

Time in a Capsule

Silence escapes the peaceful corridor.
Slipping through the crevices.
Sliding along the passageways.
Slithering down the halls and stairs.

Languid music alights the rooms.
Leaking from the ballroom.
Leading a dance of luminescence.
Longing to break free of tenebrosity.

Pure is the laughter resounding.
Pooling together with the sweet refrain.
Placid in it's reverb as it disperses.
Poignant in it's effect throughout.

Offering a taste of eternity.
Omnipotent in the reverence of life.
Obliging are the ones surrounding.
Outstretched are the hands awaiting.

Count down the hours till anon.
Capture the moments as they arise.
Collecting them like a treasure.
Cherish these fleeting seasons.

Amassed is the wealth of a few.
Ambition not being the source.
Altruism filling the hearts of all.
Amiable are the intentions.

Tethered to the present tide.
Tantamount is one to another.
Thriving is the palace within.
Trusting it all to be inevitable.

The Minds' Home

If I'm fast sleeping at this time.
Don't wake me from such slumber.
Let me be awake somewhere.
Where beauty cannot be marred.

See me lost in the unknown.
Simply let me be there.
Let me dance freely.
A waft upon the wind.

Watch as I slip away.
Loosely guarded about.
Taken with the gust.
As it breezes swiftly by.

No words can break such.
Trance as I'm bound by.
The gentle wafts.
Of serenity surrounding me.

No touch can wake.
This body that soundly slumbers.
For the mind is lost.
In a dream of my own.

It draws me in as if.
Some tide draws up to only.
Sink back upon the sand.
Loosening the pebbles around.

The wave of peace.
Settles upon my feet.
I feel as it flows over.
Content as it spreads through.

What is this world I've found?
It's mine; mine alone.
It's a part of me, somewhere deep.
Unnoticed by those who know.

They know but a fragment.
Small portion of the mind.
A mind that wants to stay still.
Still in this other world.

Find peace of mind.
Find serenity in this dream.
I'm content to stay here.
Lost forever in my minds' home.

Burning Embers

Light the match.
Let it all burn.
Watch as the embers.
Alight the darkness.

Keep me company awhile.
Let's sit here in silence.
Gazing into the dark.
As orange sparks flick by.

Stay with me but a few.
Heartbeats as we listen.
To the crackling memories smolder.
Erasing all that was.

Watch as the stars fade.
Behind a cloud of smoke.
Trailing a way above us.
Leading stairs straight to heaven.

Feel the breeze waft in.
As it gently caresses our skin.
Cold lingers on the surface.
Sending a shiver through.

Hear the night creatures roam.
Stalking around the edges.
Glowing eyes to match.
The embers as they glint.

I can feel your presence.
Keeping me safe from.
All the wiles that surround.
My body and mind.

Loneliness wants to creep in.
Be my friend for a while.
How easy it would be.
Let down the wall; holding all at bay.

The cinders have become ash.
The past is now gone.
I turn  away from what was.
Letting a tear slip down.

Hold me close as I release.
The dam holding back all that was.
I'll make it through this yet.
I will be fine; when tomorrow comes.
