As I await

A single phrase from you.
Kept me sitting on the ledge.
Waiting for you to get back.
So that I can again resume.

Breath has paused in my lungs.
Abated breath waiting inside.
Frozen in time until when.
When? Time can only tell.

Life moves unhurriedly by.
I watch as it all passes.
I can't help but wonder.
How much we'll do together.

When you finally reappear.
I can hardly wait.
No one will have anything on us.
As we storm the world.

One click of the clock.
Turns into a million.
I shift between counting.
Then drift off into space.

Will you pat me on the head?
Since I waited so patiently?
I smile at the meandering thought.
Frozen to the same exact spot.

So many others stop to stare.
Bewildered at this frozen statue.
I want to say, "I'm fine."
No words can be heard.

Am I fine here?
Doubt slowly trickles in.
Where did this thought come from?
I didn't willing abide its access.

Where did you go?
I no longer remember.
Whether you told me where.
Or if you would return.

Panic begins to set in.
Do I remember the events correctly?
Did you specifically say it?
I must have misunderstood.

Tears start to form.
Still unable to move.
I no longer know why,
But I continue to wait.
