A Moment of Tension

Your tone lacks the confidence.
Your eyes mask the fear.
As you stand before me in wait.
As to the final verdict you will be met.

I sense an inner restraint.
Notice the intensity in which you pose.
You can't hide behind your wits.
The inner struggle slowly leaks through.

A fidgeting of the finger.
The flicker of a glance away.
Who are the eyes you seek?
To gather your waning strength.

You deeply inhale security.
Exhale, yet none comes.
Why can't the nerves be stayed?
You close your eyes in wait.

How long can a minute last?
The clicking of the clock.
You inhale yet again.
Leaving out a sigh.

I finally make a decision.
Looking you in the eye.
You glance back warily.
A smile is molded on my face.

The spark of relief is seen reflected.
You sigh as you release the tension.
I can't help chuckling.
At how tense a minute can be.

A Thought Blank

Blank.

As a sheer white piece of paper.
Sitting, waiting, wanting.
In anticipation of the coming.
What will, might, should happen.

Blank.

As a blaring white screen.
Blinding eyes and blinking bar waits.
For the words sure to come.
The words were suppose to come.

Blank.

A mind that refuses to function.
To conjure, imagine and expound.
To create a masterpiece of work.
A failed attempt of inspiration.

Blank.

As these walls that stare back.
Unwilling to release, relent and give in.
To help out an old friend.
Instead they stare in silence.

Blank.

As the sky through a window.
Still, cold and lonely.
Nothing moves in fear of change.
There is no noise of any kind.

Blank.

As a canvas on an artists easel.
white, blank and empty.
Lonely without her clothing of paint.
It cries for lack of love.

My mind cries.
Blank.

Nay Mair

Piercing sounds reflect poorly.
Radiating the now lost souls.
Hear the howling night folk.
They cry for what they do not know.

Recompense for past dues.
Signature of the forgotten.
Line upon lines hidden.
Too far in the distant past.

Taking back what is not theirs.
Only loveliness is left untouched.
Left for others to admire.
Strength beyond words unspoken.

Hear now the night fowl whisper.
Unwanted personages crawl in dark.
Their ward tossed to the wolves.
Scavenging for new livelihoods.

Hear, hear you begotten ones.
Told in the distant present.
We will shine upon the wicked.
Naught shall change our course.

Singings sung in lies.
Woven is their tempests snare.
Heeding what is unspoken.
Unlikely to break the spell.

Truth being our only ally.
We wait for this freedom yet.
Covered in unholy mire.
Waiting to be cleaned once mair.

Treading on weakened ground.
Unsteady our heads become.
Lightened this way soon will be.
When he takes back his rightful ward.

In silence we now wait.
The harshness of bitter words brittle.
Beating our ever beaten backs.
They will strike us nay mair.
