A Feeling Gone Cold

The sting bites at the very tips.
The tip of my toes.
My ears and my nose.
It bites unyielding at my fingertips.

The wind whips the branches.
Rustles the leaves on the ground.
Sways the half dead weeds and grass.
My hair escapes its tie.

Cold! To say this more then once.
Would not express the feeling.
To speak it in 10 languages.
Is unimaginable, unless felt.

Feel your body freeze.
To tell me, "It's only 'so' cold."
Matters not when your teeth.
Refuse to quit their chattering.

Ice settles around the edge.
Ponds are now frozen solid.
Stepping lightly on the ice.
A low moan is heard beneath.

Numbness is seeping in.
Cold has made it to the bone.
Joints begin to creak.
Time to find our way indoors.

Snow finds her way from the heavens.
Making its way to the ground.
They dance and sway in the wind.
Making the cold seem majestic.

For a moment you stare.
Lost in the pure beauty.
The cold is momentarily forgotten.
As you witness natures miracle.

Numb, frozen and stinging extremities.
All seems worth it for that one moment.
To see the world as beautiful.
You see it for the Creators eyes.

For the Love of a Child

(I drew this awhile back)
Waking up to the sound of giggles.
Makes your day start brighter.
Knowing the happy smiles.
Makes the world seem lighter.

Pattering feet across the floor.
The sound of just another day.
In the house of growing children.
Deserting their beds to play.

Getting dressed is always a task.
Chasing down children to change.
Screaming, happy laughter rings.
Any easier and it would seem strange.

Chaos in the kitchen erupts.
Cereal and milk cover the table.
Trying to gain control and order.
Just never quite able.

Playtime commences soon after.
Your time for cleaning long pass.
Toys and games sprawled all over.
Instead you leave it for last.

Nap times are always a bliss.
When finally all are asleep.
Quietness fills the house.
Letting the peace just seep.

Managing to get a little done.
Always awake too soon.
Although nothing quite compares.
Too hear your baby croon.

Before you know it.
The day has passed.
The children's yawns begin.
They're ready for bed at last.

You hug and kiss them gently.
Laying their head down for the night.
You read their beloved bedtime story.
Until you turn off their bedroom light.

You smile as you think about.
 The chaos the day ensued.
Even though it is a lot of work.
They always put you in the best mood.\

Love Lost

As your memory wafts in.
A shot of pain pierces.
It stings and opens anew.
Shutting my eyes from you.

Instead you're there inside.
Vivid as if I could reach out.
Touch you and feel your warmth.
Yet it is merely a wisp.

My eyes sting with tears.
I can clearly see your face.
My heart hurts from the pain.
Cries out for you to be there.

Questions of why.
Yet they cannot be answered.
I know, yet they're there.
Why are you gone?

Your picture is all I have.
Memories of our love.
Pure and simple and bliss.
I miss you my friend.

My only prayer.
To see you again someday.
How fierce I would hug you.
Saying, "I love you Bud".

Recipe of My Life (old poem)

I recently found a bunch of poems I either never finished or never did anything with. Here is one of them.

Rice, water and chocolate.
Are the recipe to my life.
Love, Joy and peace.
Is how I live without strife.

Yahuwah my king.
Is who I adore, but always remember.
Having too many friends.
Can be a chore.

Truth, honour and sacrifice.
Is how we will win.
Turmoil, bitterness and hate.
Is how we stay in sin.

Always remember Yahushua our Saviour.
Who gave up everything.
Just so you and I.
Could gain the kingdom.

Rich in Heart, Poor in Spirit

As a waft of air consumes a beggar.
Emptiness consumes the proud of wealth.

As cold pinches the skin of the homeless.
Coldness pinches the soul of the elite.

As sleep eludes the misfortunate.
Dreams elude those of the fortunate.

Who do you think you are?
Sitting on your lavish thrones.
Looking down on the weary.
Who do you think we are?

Survival consumes the thoughts of a beggar.
Comforts consume the thoughts of the proud of wealth.

Hunger pinches the stomach of the homeless.
Listlessness pinches the heart of the elite.

Hope eludes the reach of the misfortunate.
Concern eludes the reach of the fortunate.

Who do you think you are?
Perched in your guarded fortresses.
Scoffing at the unfortunate.
Who do you think we are?

Change is given to the beggar.
Food and raiment to the homeless.
Faith and hope given to the misfortunate.

Wealth is taken from the proud.
Hunger pinches the stomach of the elite.
While the hearts of the fortunate are tested.

Who do you think you are?
Lowered by greed and gain.
A rock now your pillow.
Now, who do you think we are?

The Dance of Serenity

He saw her there.
Balancing lightly as a top.
Drawn to the edge.
As if about to tip over a ledge.

Lingering in thought.
He could not betray.
As he watched her move about.
Gracefully in and out.

She danced as if in trance.
Her face a mask of control.
Gliding across the stage.
As a bird released from its cage.

He never had witnessed such.
Beauty portrayed through grace.
Movements with such fluidity.
He had found in it serenity.

The tempo rises to occasion.
As she keeps up with the music.
Feeling it to her very fingers.
The after image still lingers.

His heart begins to beat fast.
 Attuned to her every movement.
 Flitting about in the wind.
He never wanted the feeling to end.

 He senses the finality.
Knowing she would soon descend.
Back down to the world of men.
His breathing slowly starting again.

Her mask of control then slips.
A glimmer of a smile appears.
As she takes her bow.
It's his turn to smile now.
